Prime minister, Kassim Majaliwa has said that there are still many opportunities in this country that if used properly can increase the number of domestic and foreign tourists.
He made the statement last night (Wednesday, August 21, 2024) while speaking to hundreds of stakeholders and participants who attended the TOURISM NIGHT event as part of the excitement of the Kizimkazi Festival 2024 held at the Dimbani Legal Development Stadium, Kizimkazi, Zanzibar.
He said that by using cultural, animal and beach tourism opportunities, Tanzania can increase the number of tourists to a large extent compared to the current situation. “Here in Kizimkazi we have a dolphin fish that has all the characteristics to enter tourism. Let's continue to strengthen beach tourism and use dolphins to stimulate tourism as our Cuban colleagues use them.”
“Cuba is a small country but it receives a lot of tourists. They have teachers to teach these fish to play with humans, they are taught to play music. And we in Tanzania have enough dolphins. Why don't we imitate from our peers? Let's do this so that we can increase tourism opportunities.”
“We still have more opportunities than these, but we have not been able to develop our market using local tourism. And we think that tourism is only foreign people, no. But domestic tourism is another area that can increase the number of tourists in the country,” said.
In order to continue promoting the festival, the Prime Minister has asked the Secretaries General of the ministries involved in cultural issues on both sides to ensure that they support the efforts of the President Dr. Samia Suluhu Hassan who is the founder of the festival together with the organizing committee so that the number of participants and visitors from abroad can increase.
“Advertisements and promotions should start six months before the festival so that people can prepare their budgets early and in that way we will increase the motivation to participate in this festival. Ministries and relevant institutions use social networks, websites, and media to increase motivation", Dr Majaliwa.
Also prime minister added that , Tanzania has a lot of resources that we can use to stimulate tourism and other__ many attractions , so we should use it creative to improve our tourism industry , so that we can stimulate a lot of visitors from abroad .
