President Putin Responds to Trump's 'Absolutely Crazy' Remarks Amid Ukraine Missile Attacks

President of US and Russia

Russia has accused U.S. President Donald Trump of experiencing an "emotional overload" after he described Vladimir Putin as "absolutely crazy" in response to the recent missile strikes on Ukraine.

Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov addressed Trump's comments, expressing gratitude for the U.S. role in facilitating ceasefire negotiations.

He acknowledged the emotional intensity surrounding the situation, emphasizing the importance of the moment. This reaction followed one of the most significant aerial assaults on Ukraine since the conflict began, with Russian forces launching a record 355 drones and nine cruise missiles, prompting NATO to deploy warplanes from Poland for the second consecutive night.

Despite the ongoing violence, Peskov reiterated Moscow's commitment to peace, claiming that officials are drafting a serious proposal, although it has yet to be submitted

In a recent conversation with Trump, Putin indicated that Russia and Ukraine would collaborate on a peace memorandum, leading to skepticism from Kyiv and Western allies about Moscow's genuine interest in resolving the conflict.

Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov said that a draft outlining long-term peace conditions would be ready for Kyiv following the completion of a prisoner exchange agreed upon in Istanbul.

The recent prisoner exchange, in which both Russia and Ukraine released 1,000 individuals, was finalized on Sunday, according to Russia's defense ministry.

Kremlin spokesperson Dmitry Peskov indicated that efforts toward a peace agreement would persist, building on the discussions held in Istanbul, with this exchange marking the initial phase.

Meanwhile, former President Trump criticized Putin for what he described as unnecessary loss of life and warned of potential escalated sanctions. He expressed his belief that the ongoing missile and drone attacks on Ukrainian cities are unjustified and reiterated his long-held view that- " Putin aims to seize all of Ukraine,  as such ambitions could ultimately lead to Russia's downfall" he said .
