Prime Minister, Dr. Majaliwa has highlighted Tanzania's commitment to collaborating closely with the private sector to enhance economic growth and improve the lives of its citizens.
Speaking during a discussion with four other prime ministers from Tanzania, Ivory Coast, Guinea, and Cameroon at a two-day forum for Chief Executive Officers in Abidjan, Ivory Coast, he emphasized the government's efforts to create opportunities for private sector engagement.
Majaliwa added that the Tanzanian government works alongside the Tanzania Private Sector Foundation, labor unions, and industrialists, facilitating partnerships that benefit the economy.
He also discussed the advantages of the African Continental Free Trade Area (AfCFTA) and how Tanzania is leveraging its geographical position to strengthen its infrastructure, including the ports of Tanga, Dar es Salaam, and Mtwara, with plans for a new port in Bagamoyo.
Furthermore, he mentioned ongoing projects like the modern Standard Gauge Railway (SGR) connecting Tanzania with Congo, Rwanda, and Burundi, as well as improvements in air and road transport to ease access for investors.
Also ,the Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, Cosato Chumi, added that the forum has provided a platform to affirm President Samia Suluhu Hassan's commitment to advancing economic diplomacy and opening up Tanzania's economy.
"Many participants here are sharing their experiences from the significant Energy Summit held in January 2025, along with other major meetings organized by our country. We have also received information that Burkina Faso is interested in visiting to learn about the operations of the Jakaya Kikwete Hospital, aiming to establish a similar facility in their nation. " he said
The Tanzanian Ambassador to Nigeria, who also represents Tanzania in Ivory Coast, Elestine Kakele, highlighted that Tanzania's participation in this forum helps showcase the opportunities available, particularly in the cotton sector. This is an ideal moment for the private sector to step up as a driving force for development.
The Registrar of the Treasury, Mr. Nehemia Mchechu, added -" Tanzania's presence at the forum has facilitated connections with various development stakeholders across Africa, providing a platform for the country to promote itself and attract investments that can boost its economy. "
"We believe that through these meetings, more people are becoming aware of Tanzania and the opportunities present in our logistics, mining, agriculture, and financial sectors."
These gatherings continue to create numerous 'economic opportunities' for Tanzania, enhancing tourism and drawing more visitors to the country.
