The President of Zanzibar and Chairman of the Revolutionary Council, Hon. Dr. Hussein Ali Mwinyi, has awarded Yanga SC a sum of 100 million shillings in recognition of their significant victories and achievements during the 2024/2025 season.
President Dr. Mwinyi made these remarks today, June 30, 2025, during a meeting with the leaders and players of Yanga who visited the State House to present five trophies from various competitions they won this season.
While addressing them, President Dr. Mwinyi praised the remarkable achievements of this historic club, stating that they contribute to building respect and an important legacy in the sports industry of the country.
Furthermore, he expressed gratitude to Yanga for promoting Zanzibar both locally and internationally through the Visit Zanzibar campaign, noting that the club's decision to host some of its matches in Zanzibar helps boost the economy and the tourism sector by increasing the number of visitors and providing various opportunities for the local population.
Additionally, President Dr. Mwinyi stated that the government will continue to enhance sports facilities to enable more competitions to take place in Zanzibar.
Meanwhile, the President of Yanga, who is also the Chairman of Football Clubs in Africa, Engineer Hersi Said Ali, presented President Dr. Mwinyi with a special medal from the CRDB tournament along with the championship jersey of the NBC Premier League, while also expressing congratulations and gratitude to President Dr. Mwinyi for his efforts in improving sports infrastructure in the country and promising that the club will continue to play its matches in the Islands.
This season, the club has successfully secured the following trophies: the NBC Community Shield, the Toyota Cup, the Unity Cup, the Tanzania Mainland Premier League Cup, and the CRDB Federation Cup.
