The government, through the Ministry of Health and the Global Fund, continues to collaborate in strengthening efforts against Malaria, Tuberculosis (TB), and HIV/AIDS by enhancing healthcare services and ensuring the availability of medicines, supplies, and medical equipment.
Health Minister Hon. Jenista Mhagama stated during a meeting with the Head of the Grant Management Department from the Global Fund, Mr. Edwin Edington, at the Ministry's offices in Dodoma.
Minister Mhagama added that the discussions aimed to address various issues concerning the health sector in the country, with the goal of implementing the objectives set by President Dr. Samia Suluhu Hassan to ensure that citizens receive quality healthcare in their communities.
"The Tanzanian government will continue to collaborate with this fund as it has made significant contributions in facilitating health products, including medicines, supplies, and medical equipment, in line with the Sixth Phase Government's commitment to building infrastructure and improving healthcare for the citizens," said Minister Mhagama.
On his part, the Head of the Grant Management Department, Mr. Mark Edington from the Global Fund, expressed gratitude to the Tanzanian government for its partnership in combating Tuberculosis, Malaria, and HIV/AIDS.
Mr. Edington promised that the Global Fund would continue to support the government's efforts to tackle these diseases in the country by directing financial resources towards purchasing medicines and improving healthcare service delivery systems.
The meeting was also attended by a team from the Ministry of Health led by the Permanent Secretary, Dr. Seif Shekalaghe, along with the Chief Government Medical Officer, Dr. Grace Magembe.
This is a crucial step in ensuring that citizens are in a better environment against diseases.
