The head coach of Taifa Stars, Hemed Morocco, has made it clear that his team is ready for the battle for three points today against Niger in the World Cup 2026 qualifying match.
Despite thorough preparations, he mentioned that they still face challenges in the number nine position.
"We arrived in Zanzibar with high morale, the players are fit, and we have successfully completed our training.
"I have seen great enthusiasm and commitment from the young players. However, we still have challenges in the number nine position that we are addressing, as we need a striker who can finish the chances we create," Morocco stated while speaking to reporters today.
He added that this match is an opportunity to showcase a new direction for the Stars and to provide comfort to Tanzanians who believe in this team.
On his part, team player Simon Msuva sent a message of encouragement to the fans, stating that the players are prepared to fight until the end.
"We know tofay's game won't be easy, but each of us is ready for the nation. The unity within the team is strong, and we need Tanzanians to continue supporting us. We will fight for the country's flag," Msuva said.
Taifa Stars and Niger have faced each other three times in competitive and friendly matches, with each side winning once and one match ending in a draw. These results create a balanced scenario, adding to the excitement of tomorrow's game.
Taifa Stars is in Group E of the World Cup 2026 qualifiers alongside Morocco, Zambia, Niger, and Congo, following Eritrea's withdrawal. Morocco has already qualified, leading with 18 points, while Stars hold second place with 10 points. Zambia and Niger each have 6 points, while Congo sits at the bottom with just one point.
