Sheikh Amri Abeid Stadium in Arusha hosted an NBC Premier League clash between Fountain Gate FC and Yanga SC, where Yanga emerged with a 2-0 victory to maintain their 100% winning record in the first five matches of the season.
Yanga started the match at a high tempo, searching for an early goal, while Fountain Gate remained cautious in the opening minutes. After several minutes of end-to-end action, Peter Shalulile put Yanga ahead in the 26th minute, finishing off a backheel pass from Stephane Aziz Ki, who was playing his first league match since returning to Yanga .
The goal gave Yanga more momentum, with the defending champions beginning to dominate the game and forcing Fountain Gate to spend much of their time defending.
Despite the hosts' attempts to level the score, Yanga's defense remained solid and repelled their attacks, and the first half ended with Yanga leading 1-0.
In the second half, Yanga continued to press Fountain Gate's goal, with the technical bench making changes aimed at adding strength in midfield and attack.
Those efforts paid off in the 76th minute when Mudathir Yahya scored the second goal after following up on a rebound from the Fountain Gate goalkeeper, following an attack initiated by Seleman Mwalimu.
Fountain Gate tried to find a consolation goal in the remaining minutes, but Yanga continued to control the game until the final whistle, leaving Arusha with a 2-0 victory.
The win takes Yanga to 15 points after winning all five matches, having scored 15 goals and conceded only two. On the other hand, Fountain Gate remain on three points after five matches, still searching for results that will lift them up the league table.
