Bongo Flava star Marioo has won the Best Male East Africa award at the African Music Magazine Awards (AFRIMMA) 2026, held on September 12, 2026, in Dallas, Texas, United States.
Marioo was competing for the award against other major East African artists, including Diamond Platnumz, Juma Jux, Mbosso, and Barnaba from Tanzania; Bien from Kenya; Eddy Kenzo and Joshua Baraka from Uganda; Lij Michael from Ethiopia; and Single Dee from South Sudan.
The win came on a night when Marioo was also among the Tanzanian artists expected to perform at the AFRIMMA Music Fest, held at Annette Strauss Square in Dallas.
The award further boosts Marioo’s international influence and makes him more visible to international artists for collaborations on various music projects.
The AFRIMMA awards recognize artists, songs, performances, and other stakeholders who contribute to the growth and influence of African music.
