Rombo Raymond; Let's collaborate on residential address verification exercise

Citizens in Arusha

Residents of Rombo District in Kilimanjaro have been urged to actively participate in the ongoing verification of residential addresses, emphasizing its significance for national development.

This call was made by District Commissioner Rayamond Mangwala during the launch of training for local leaders and officials, aimed at enhancing their capacity to manage the address system effectively.

Mangwala highlighted that , the National Addressing System is crucial as it serves as identification for individuals and businesses, pinpointing exact locations for residences and commercial activities.

He explained that the system operates based on street names, house numbers, and postal codes, facilitating seamless access to postal and various essential services, thereby connecting communities from the local to the national level.

Engineer Jampyon Mbugi, the Coordinator for the National Addressing System Implementation from the Ministry of Communications and Information Technology, noted that the verification process will span 12 days across four councils: Moshi, Rombo, Hai, and Moshi Municipality.

He added that residential addresses offer numerous benefits, including improved service delivery, enhanced communication between citizens and government, and increased efficiency in emergency and social services.

In Tanzania, the address project is being implemented by the Ministry of Information, Communications, and Information Technology in collaboration with the President's Office – Regional Administration and Local Government, as well as the Ministry of Lands, Housing, and Human Settlements Development.
