President of the Republic of Finland, Mr. Alexander Stubb, visited the National Museum of Tanzania in Dar es Salaam, expressing his admiration for the exhibits showcasing 'human history'  within this historic building.

During his visit on May 15, 2025, President Stubb reflected on the profound insights he gained about 'human origins' emphasizing the historical ties between Tanzania and Finland that date back to their independence—Finland in 1917 and Tanzania in the 1960s.

He noted that this relationship began during the era of Tanzania's founding father, Julius Nyerere, and Finland's first president.

Meanwhile, the Minister of Natural Resources and Tourism, Ambassador Dr. Pindi Chana, highlighted that President Stubb's visit is a testament to the strong leadership of Tanzania's President, Dr. Samia Suluhu Hassan.

She pointed out that the President had the opportunity to see significant artifacts, including the 'Zinjanthropus skull ' and various tools, which she described as a great honor for the nation.

Furthermore, she mentioned that the visit has led to an agreement between Tanzania and Finland to enhance collaboration in training, joint research, and sharing experiences in the fields of museums and heritage.

The Director General of the National Museum of Tanzania, Noel Luoga, added that the visit has inspired the institution to promote heritage tourism actively, with plans to collaborate with Finland on research, improve exhibitions using modern technology, and ensure that museums reach the community effectively.

The event was also attended by the Minister of Foreign Affairs and East African Cooperation, Mr. Mahmoud Thabit Kombo, the Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Natural Resources and Tourism, Dr. Hassan Abbasi, and officials from various institutions under the Ministry.
