The Ministry of Construction and Buildings in Tanzania is implementing specific protocols and regulations to ensure the safety of buildings across the nation.
Minister of Buildings, Dr. Ulega, informed the Tanzanian parliament that the ministry is actively working on legislation for building construction to fully maintain peace and security.
He took this opportunity to express condolences to those affected by last year's tragedy following the collapse of a building in Kariakoo, praying for their souls to rest in peace.
In response to the incident that occurred last year in Kariakoo, Dr. Samia Suluhu Hassan has initiated the construction of numerous high-standard buildings to enhance quality construction practices and create many projects that will provide employment opportunities for the youth.
Dr. Ulega stated, 'Building regulations are a crucial step in enhancing safety, business, and reducing harm within the community.'
He also expressed gratitude to Dr. Samia Suluhu Hassan for her significant efforts invested in the nation, noting that her sixth-term government has achieved substantial progress in the community and reduced "maternal mortality" through her vital clean energy policy, which has improved the quality of life for many.
Building regulations are an essential pillar that will protect and strengthen the safety of buildings being constructed in the country, representing a critical strategy for establishing a solid foundation in construction.
Dr. Ulega added that last year's building collapse in Kariakoo caused significant damage and loss of personal property, including money, goods, and vehicles, all of which were destroyed in the incident.
'Therefore, the establishment of building regulations is essential to ensure that human assets are kept secure,' Dr. Ulega emphasized.
"Our environment has different structures and soil types, making research vital in creating buildings that align with the specific surroundings to ensure safety , We have many construction engineers who will be essential tools in designing and developing construction methods for buildings in the country." This is a crucial step in enhancing building safety in the country to protect human assets and reduce unnecessary fatalities.
