The Zanzibar Revolution government confirms Charles Hilary's death

The Revolutionary Government of Zanzibar has confirmed the death of the former Chief Spokesman of the Revolutionary Government of Zanzibar and the Director of Presidential Communications, Brother Charles Martin Hilary, which happened today, May 11, 2025. 

According to the information provided by the Secretary of the Revolutionary Council and the Secretary General, Engineer Zena Ahmed Said, it has been stated that 

"I am sorry to announce the death of the former Chief Spokesman of the Revolutionary Government of Zanzibar and the Director of Presidential Communications, Brother Charles Martin Hilary, which happened this morning on May 11, 2025 at the Mloganzila hospital, Dar es Salaam where he was receiving treatment."

The Revolutionary Government of Zanzibar offers its condolences to the family of the deceased, relatives, friends and all those affected by this great tragedy. In addition, he has urged them to be patient during this difficult period of grief.

The late Charles Martin Hilary will be remembered for his patriotism, integrity and the great contribution he made in managing the communication of the Government with great professionalism and efficiency.

May Allah rest the soul of the deceased in heaven. Amen"

The President of the United Republic of Tanzania Hon. Dr. Samia Suluhu Hassan has expressed his condolences following the death of the Director of the Department of Communications and the Zanzibar State House and the Chief Spokesman of the Revolutionary Government of Zanzibar Charles Hillary which happened today May 11, 2025 

Dr. Samia Suluhu Hassan through her Instagram page has written :_

"I have received with sadness the news of the death of Mr. Charles Hilary, Director of the Department of Communications at the Zanzibar Palace that happened today May 11, 2025.

I apologize to the President of Zanzibar and the Chairman of the Revolutionary Council, Mr. Dr. Hussein Mwinyi, family, relatives, relatives and friends and all stakeholders of the media sector in the country for this tragedy.

Brother Charles Hilary will be remembered for his noble contribution of more than 40 years in promoting the media sector in the country from radio to television, as well as counseling for young journalists.

I ask Allah to grant his family patience and perseverance in this difficult period, and to rest the soul of our loved one in peace.

Indeed, we all belong to Allah, and to Him we shall return."
