The Vice President of the United Republic of Tanzania, Hon. Dr. Philip Mpango, has praised the establishment of the African Medical Excellence Center (AMCE), which he believes will serve as a model for the African continent and help reduce the costs of sending patients outside the continent.
The Vice President made these remarks during his visit to the African Center of Medical Excellence located in Abuja, Nigeria
"The center will facilitate the transfer of knowledge, enabling local professionals to provide sustainable healthcare services to the people of Africa." he said.
He commended the specialists who have worked in various hospitals outside Africa for their decision to return to the continent and collaborate with locals in delivering healthcare services at this facility.
The Vice President witnessed the presence of modern medical equipment and various diagnostic and treatment machines that will assist in providing specialized services that have long been unavailable.
This center, funded by Afrexim Bank, has been equipped with modern infrastructure and medical supplies for specialized treatment to combat various diseases, including cancer.
In another development, the Vice President met and held discussions with the Chairman of the Board of Directors and President of Afrexim Bank, Prof. Benedict Okey Oramah, in talks that took place alongside the 32nd Afrexim Bank Meeting held in Abuja, Nigeria.
Among other topics, these discussions aimed to further strengthen the cooperation between Tanzania and Afrexim Bank, particularly in the implementation of various strategic projects.
The Vice President is in Nigeria representing the President of the United Republic of Tanzania, Hon. Dr. Samia Suluhu Hassan, at the 32nd Afrexim Bank Meeting taking place in Abuja.
This meeting aims to enhance healthcare services in Africa to reduce medical costs across the continent.
