New York Democrat Advocates for Impeachment of President Trump Following Iran Bombing Controversy

Democrats calls for Trump impeachment

New York Democrat Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez has urged for the impeachment of President Donald Trump following his decision to bomb Iran's primary nuclear facilities, condemning the action as "unconstitutional."Ocasio-Cortez said that by attacking the Iranian nuclear sites "without authorization from lawmakers" in Congress, the president violated the Constitution and the Congressional War Powers.

"The President’s reckless choice to bomb Iran without proper authorization is a serious infringement of the Constitution and Congressional War Powers," Ocasio-Cortez (D-NY) stated shortly after Trump revealed the attack.

"He has recklessly endangered us by potentially igniting a war that could entangle us for generations. This is undoubtedly grounds for impeachment.

Earlier, Trump disclosed that he had ordered strikes aimed at Iran’s Fordow, Natanz, and Esfahan nuclear facilities. He mentioned that all American aircraft had successfully exited Iranian airspace and were "safely on their way home."

Trump has faced criticism over the strikes, with Rep. Thomas Massie calling for his impeachment.Massie (R-Ky.), who has previously diverged from Trump, simply stated: "This is not Constitutional."

Top Intel Committee Democrat Jim Himes (D-Conn.) also accused Trump of overstepping his presidential powers with the strikes and criticized the lack of advance notice regarding the attacks."According to the Constitution, which we are both sworn to uphold, my attention to this issue must come BEFORE bombs are dropped. Full stop," Himes expressed on X.
