Tanzania has increased the number of researchers and policy planners investing in impactful studies for the development of the nation .
"We want to see the results of these studies being utilized; do not just store them in cabinets. These outcomes should enhance the health sector. I hope this conference will provide recommendations that strengthen systems, policies, and collaboration between the public and private sectors to ensure that Tanzanians fully benefit from these reforms," said Dr. Majaliwa.
Additionally, Honorable Majaliwa has urged stakeholders in the private sector and development partners to increase investment in medical equipment and new technologies to enhance the capacity to combat diseases effectively.
On its part, the government will continue to improve the health sector by investing more in infrastructure, human resources, specialized treatments, and systems to address disease outbreaks.
"We will continue to collaborate with all stakeholders to ensure that every Tanzanian receives quality, safe, and friendly services regardless of their location."he said
The Sixth Phase Government led by President Dr. Samia Suluhu Hassan is creating a conducive environment to attract investment in the production of medicines, vaccines, and medical supplies within the country.
"We have already begun to witness positive developments in these areas, taking pride in the contributions of our local experts."he emphasized.
"Our government has continued to strengthen the use of technology in the health sector. Today, our hospitals are using digital systems to diagnose diseases, provide accurate treatments, and monitor patient progress," he added.
Speaking on behalf of the Minister of Education, Science, and Technology, Deputy Secretary General for Science, Technology, and Higher Education Prof. Daniel Mushi stated that the government has prioritized education, science, and technology. "We take pride in the significant reforms under President Dr. Samia Suluhu Hassan; her leadership has brought about new changes in strengthening educational institutions in the country.
The improvements at the university serve as significant evidence of how the government is implementing plans to enhance the learning and teaching environment.
On his part, the Deputy Vice-Chancellor of the institution, Professor Appolinary Kamuhabwa, has commended the government for its sincere efforts that have enabled support from various development partners, thus facilitating the execution of major strategic projects that are bringing about substantial changes in higher education and health in the country.
Prof. Appolinary stated that the construction of the East African Centre of Excellence for Cardiovascular Sciences, funded by the government through a concessional loan from the African Development Bank, is one of the projects set to be implemented. "This project is entering its second phase, following the completion of the first phase of building this vital center here in Mloganzila. The first phase cost 21.62 billion shillings, and the second phase of this project, which officially commenced in May 2025, aims to establish a modern teaching hospital for specialists and experts in cardiovascular diseases," said Prof. Appolinary.
This hospital will enhance the capacity to provide specialized services, train professionals both locally and internationally, and conduct research aimed at addressing the challenges of heart and vascular diseases.
This phase will cost approximately 221.57 billion shillings.
