North Korean leader Kim Jong Un told a senior Russian diplomat that his country is ready to "unconditionally support" all actions taken by Moscow to resolve the Ukraine conflict, state media reported on Sunday, as the two nations engaged in high-level strategic talks.
Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov is on a three-day visit to North Korea, which has supplied troops and weapons for the Russia-Ukraine war and promised further military assistance as Moscow seeks to make progress in the conflict.
Kim met with Lavrov in the eastern coastal city of Wonsan, where the foreign ministers of both countries held their second strategic discussions, pledging further cooperation under a partnership agreement signed last year that includes mutual defense commitments.
Kim told Lavrov that actions taken by allies in response to significant shifts in global geopolitical dynamics will greatly contribute to achieving peace and security worldwide, North Korea's state news agency KCNA reported.
"Kim Jong Un reaffirmed that the DPRK (Democratic People's Republic of Korea) is ready to unconditionally support and encourage all measures taken by the Russian leadership to address the root cause of the Ukraine crisis," KCNA stated.
