Job Ndungai's Legacy: How His Life Continues to Inspire Us

Job Ndugai a former speaker of Tanzania

Tanzania has lost a strong political leader, the former Speaker of the National Assembly and Member of Parliament for Kongwa, Hon. Job Yustino Ndugai, who passed away today while receiving treatment in the hospital after a sudden illness.

Hon. Ndugai, born on January 22, 1960, has been a significant pillar in Tanzanian politics for over two decades. He began serving as the Speaker of the United Republic of Tanzania's National Assembly on November 17, 2015, and continued in that role until January 6, 2022, when he voluntarily resigned from the position.

Even after stepping down from the speakership, Hon. Ndugai remained the Member of Parliament for Kongwa, a constituency he served diligently and with integrity for many years.

This year (2025), he continued to demonstrate his political influence by winning his party's primaries decisively, garnering 5,690 votes, thus securing his position as a parliamentary candidate.

Until his untimely death, Hon. Ndugai was actively preparing for this year's General Election, representing the hopes of the Kongwa constituents who had trusted him for a long time .

Job Ndugai was an exceptional leader, a diligent worker, and a visionary with strong principles in his leadership. He teaches us that leadership requires patience and courage to bring about meaningful progress in society. May God bless him forever and ever.
