Tanzania's Deputy Prime Minister unveils cutting-edge technology for painless tumor removal without surgery.

The Deputy Prime Minister, Dotto Biteko, is set to launch a groundbreaking non-invasive technology known as High-Intensity Focused Ultrasound (HIFU) for removing tumors from the body.

This launch will take place on the 26th of this month at Kairuki Hospital in Mikocheni, Dar es Salaam.

This was announced yesterday by the Acting Director General of Kairuki Hospital, Dr. Onesmo Kaganda, while discussing the upcoming launch.

"The introduction of High-Intensity Focused Ultrasound (HIFU) marks a 'historic event' as it is the first time this service is being launched in the East and Central African region." he said .

He noted that before arriving in Tanzania, this technology had only been established in three African countries: Egypt, Nigeria, and South Africa.

Also , Dr. Kaganda explained that High-Intensity Focused Ultrasound (HIFU) is a modern technology that utilizes Sound Waves to treat various types of tumors without surgery, including both cancerous and non-cancerous tumors in areas such as the breasts, pancreas, cervix for women, and prostate for men.

He highlighted the benefits of this service, including the fact that patients will not need surgery to remove tumors.

"There are no scars since no surgery is involved, and patients recover quickly, allowing them to return to their daily activities in no time." he added .

Dr. Kaganda mentioned that this treatment does not require blood transfusions, even for patients with anemia, and the availability of this service in the country will reduce the costs associated with seeking treatment abroad, thus facilitating timely and efficient healthcare for the citizens.

This service represents a significant step that will enhance efficiency and quality in the healthcare sector, opening a new chapter of expertise and innovation in the country's health services.

Health is crucial for development; that is why the Tanzanian government has heightened its focus on creating a clean environment for everyone and fostering conditions that encourage productive innovation among the youth.
