The wife of Charlie Kirk is reportedly struggling to tell their children about his death following his brutal assassination.

Kirk was shot in the neck while he was speaking in Utah on Wednesday, leaving behind his wife Erika and their two children, a three-year-old daughter and a 16-month-old son.

Jack Posobiec, who works with Kirk's Turning Point USA organization, talked to NewsNation on Thursday morning about how the family is handling the situation.

He mentioned to the outlet: 'Erika is incredibly strong. However, someone needs to tell their son and daughter why their dad didn’t come home yesterday.

'Erika is a prayer warrior; both she and Charlie are very devoted believers, deeply rooted in Christianity.

'When the cameras are off and the lights dim, they return to their faith immediately - it’s a part of their lives 24/7.

'It’s not just something they show in front of the camera; it’s a way of life they practice every single day.

'Because of their strong faith, [Erika] has the strength to get through this, a strength that truly comes from above.'

In a Thursday morning update, Beau Mason, the commissioner of the Utah Department of Public Safety, stated that Erika and the family are 'devastated'.The couple had just celebrated their fourth wedding anniversary in May.
