The defending champions of the Tanzania Premier League, Yanga SC, have kicked off their campaign in the African Champions League with a bang, securing a resounding 3-0 victory against Angola's Wiliete SC. The match took place , September 19, 2025, at the Estádio 11 de Novembro in Angola.
From the very first minutes, Yanga dominated the game, managing to score their first goal in the 31st minute through Aziz Andambwile, who unleashed a powerful shot from outside the penalty area (18), a strike that left the Wiliete SC goalkeeper helpless as it found the back of the net.
Yanga's second goal came in the 72nd minute, courtesy of Edmund John, who expertly finished a brilliant pass from Maxi Nzengeli, skillfully evading the Wiliete defenders before placing the ball into the net with great precision.
In the 82nd minute, Yanga SC's dangerous forward, Prince Dube, added a third goal for his team while inside the 18-yard box, after receiving a clean pass and outmaneuvering a defender before firing a shot that beat the home team's goalkeeper.
Yanga SC will now return home to prepare for the return leg, which is set to be played next week at the Benjamin Mkapa Stadium in Dar es Salaam.
