The Vice Chancellor of the University of Dar es Salaam and former President, Dr. Jakaya Mrisho Kikwete, has presided over the fourth and final round of the 55th graduation ceremony of the University of Dar es Salaam, which took place today at the Mlimani City Hall in Dar es Salaam.
During this graduation, a total of 2,046 graduates were awarded various academic honors ranging from Certificate to Doctorate (PhD) levels.
According to the university's report, there are 76 PhD graduates, including 20 women and 46 men, with women representing 30.8 percent.
The Master's level has seen 522 graduates, with 152 women and 370 men, which accounts for 29.1 percent of the Master's graduates.
Additionally, there are 26 graduates with Postgraduate Diplomas, comprising 8 women and 18 men, with women reaching 30.8 percent.
At the Bachelor's level, this graduation has produced 1,291 graduates, with women again demonstrating significant enthusiasm by holding 51.3 percent.
The Certificate level has yielded 126 graduates, where women constitute 18.3 percent, while 16 graduates from the Certificate level represent 31.3 percent of women.
Dr. Kikwete expressed his delight at the increasing gender ratio and the rise of women in higher education, particularly in undergraduate and advanced Master's levels, where statistics have shown that the percentage of female graduates has surpassed that of male graduates in many programs.
