JengaHub's Nancy Sumari Wins International Innovation Award – A Beacon of Hope for Inclusive Education in Tanzania

Miss Tanzania 2006 and Miss World Africa, who is now a technology innovator, Nancy Sumari, has continued to proudly represent Tanzania on the international stage after winning an Innovation Award from the Zero Project in Austria.

Nancy received this award in recognition of her contributions through the JengaHub Foundation in promoting inclusive education for children with disabilities in Tanzania.

As the Director of JengaHub, Nancy has been awarded a medal of honor alongside other organizations, including Child Support Tanzania and Kyaro Assistive Tech, which have been recognized for their innovative efforts in supporting the community of people with disabilities.

In her statement, Nancy mentioned that JengaHub has developed the Kalimani App, a digital learning platform that utilizes artificial intelligence (AI) to assist children with hearing impairments in learning to read, write, count, and acquire digital skills.

"The Kalimani App teaches using Tanzanian sign language and is expected to be used in both regular and special schools across six regions in the country," part of the statement read.

Certificates of appreciation were awarded in February 2026 during the Zero Project General Assembly held in Vienna, Austria.

Through this achievement, Nancy continues to be a catalyst for change in the education and technology sectors, demonstrating that Tanzanian innovation can be recognized and respected on the global stage.

The award represent a great achievement that can act as a " role model " in fostering her passion , creativity and innovation through her country and internationally.
