American rapper and businessman Jay-Z has reportedly chosen himself as the artist to entertain at the Super Bowl LXI halftime show, set for February 14, 2027, at SoFi Stadium in Inglewood, California. The report was published by TMZ, citing Puck, which claimed that Jay-Z reached the decision after several weeks of reflection.

According to the report, Jay-Z—whose company Roc Nation partners with the NFL to coordinate Super Bowl entertainment—has significant authority in selecting performers. Sources cited by Puck claimed that he ultimately felt he was the most compelling choice for the event.

Earlier, names such as Miley Cyrus and Justin Bieber were mentioned among those being considered for the entertainment slot.

A previous TMZ report in September 2026 also named Justin Bieber and Harry Styles among the artists on Roc Nation’s wish list, though it did not say they had received formal offers.

Roc Nation began partnering with the NFL in 2019 to coordinate and produce Super Bowl halftime entertainment, and the agreement was extended in 2024 for another five years. Since then, the company has been involved in shows featuring major artists including Jennifer Lopez, Shakira, Rihanna, Usher, Kendrick Lamar, and Bad Bunny.

If the report is officially confirmed, it would be the first time Jay-Z has performed as the headline artist at the Super Bowl halftime show. The 56-year-old rapper is among the biggest names in hip-hop, with numerous Grammy Awards and globally successful songs. His wife, Beyoncé, has already performed at the event.

However, Jay-Z’s reported decision to choose himself has not yet been officially announced by the NFL or Roc Nation. The report should therefore be treated as source-based and pending confirmation from Super Bowl organizers about who will lead the 2027 entertainment.

Last year, Bad Bunny was the headliner at the Super Bowl halftime show at Levi’s Stadium in San Francisco. The performance, which featured appearances by Lady Gaga and Ricky Martin and cameos from Jessica Alba, Pedro Pascal, and others, drew 128.8 million viewers. That was down slightly from Kendrick Lamar’s record-setting 133 million viewer total in 2025.

Lamar co-headlined the 2022 halftime show, the last time the Super Bowl was in Los Angeles. He was joined by Dr. Dre, Snoop Dogg, Eminem, and Mary J. Blige for that performance.

Puck first reported this report .
