North Korean leader Kim Jong-un expressed his fury during a launch ceremony when a new naval destroyer capsized and sank before his eyes.
Reports from Mail Online indicate that the 5,000-ton vessel suffered significant damage due to a failed launch.
Kim condemned the incident as a "criminal act caused by absolute carelessness" that was intolerable.
He has mandated the ship's restoration ahead of a June party meeting, as confirmed by the Korean Central News Agency (KCNA).
The agency detailed that the mishap stemmed from operational negligence, leading to a failure in the ship's launch mechanism and subsequent hull rupture.
Kim emphasized the urgency of the restoration, framing it as a political matter tied to the nation's authority, and insisted it must be completed before the upcoming plenary session.
The destroyer involved in the ceremony is reportedly of the same class as the Choi Hyun-ho, which was launched the previous month, with claims of being equipped with advanced weaponry and constructed in just over 400 days.
