Tanzania has urged the "International Community" to implement strong strategies, including involving women in peace and security matters, to control conflicts primarily caused by tribalism, racism, extremism, and disputes over natural resources and borders.
This appeal was made by the Minister of Foreign Affairs and East African Cooperation, Hon. Ambassador Mahmoud Thabit Kombo, while speaking at the Third International Conference on Women, Peace, and Security taking place in Prishtina, Kosovo from June 2 to 3, 2025.
Minister Kombo said that to achieve a peaceful and stable world, the International Community must collaborate with various countries to provide adequate education on the importance of 'global peace' and involve women and youth groups in the peace process to avoid many conflicts caused by tribalism, modern and religious extremism, competition for resources like minerals, and racism.
While addressing the topic 'Peace Integration in the 21st Century: What is Needed,' Minister Kombo, who was the keynote speaker during the panel discussion, emphasized that in this era of science and technology, women have a significant role and importance in peace and security issues from the family level to the international stage, as they are the primary victims of conflicts and caretakers of families, especially when peace is absent.
Additionally, discussing Tanzania, Minister Kombo mentioned that under the strong leadership of the President of the United Republic of Tanzania, Hon. Dr. Samia Suluhu Hassan, the country has continued to prioritize peace and security by actively participating in efforts to resolve existing conflicts in the region and globally through peaceful means.
He also clarified that one of Tanzania's achievements as a peaceful nation is its efforts to prevent conflicts peacefully.
Also, Regarding the youth, Minister Kombo explained that they should be empowered and provided with job opportunities to avoid conflicts arising from unemployment.
