Visa-Free Travel to Tanzania: Explore the 71 Nations That Can Enter Without a Visa

Visa visa-Free Tanzania

The government has made agreements with various countries to simplify the visa process, allowing citizens from 71 countries to enter the country without a visa.

Currently, tourists from many more nations around the world are permitted to obtain visas upon arrival at international airports such as Julius Nyerere (Dar es Salaam), Kilimanjaro, and Zanzibar.

This was said by the Deputy Minister of Natural Resources and Tourism, Hon. Dunstan Kitandula (MP), while responding to a question from Hon. Dr. Pius Stephen Chaya, who wanted to know what efforts have been made to ease visa acquisition for tourists with different nationalities coming to the country in response to Tanzania's Royal Tour.

Additionally, Hon. Kitandula mentioned that the government has continued to improve the visa issuance process in the country to keep up with global technological changes. For instance, the government, through the Immigration Department, has launched an online visa application system (e-Visa) that allows tourists to apply for visas from anywhere in the world without needing to visit an embassy.

"Moreover, the government has enhanced the Immigration Regulations of 2023 (GN 428), whereby tourists using Visitors Pass are now allowed to visit East African Community countries and return to Tanzania without needing to reapply for entry permits," said Hon. Kitandula.

The issue of visas is directly related to the tourism sector, and the Ministry of Natural Resources and Tourism has strengthened cooperation with the ' Ministry of Home Affairs' particularly the Immigration Department, in various areas including the collection of tourist statistics and developing joint strategies to attract tourists and investment opportunities.

Recently, the Ministry, through the National College of Tourism, has provided Customer Service and Hospitality training for Immigration Officers to enhance the services offered to visitors entering the country, including tourists.
