The President of the United Republic of Tanzania and Commander-in-Chief, Honorable Dr. Samia Suluhu Hassan, today, July 25, 2025, led the national commemoration of Heroes' Day held at the Heroes' Square in Mtumba, Dodoma City.
The event was attended by various national leaders, including the Vice President, Prime Minister, Ministers, Chiefs of Defense and Security Forces, Ambassadors from different countries, as well as citizens from various parts of the nation.
During this honorable occasion, President Samia laid a wreath at the heroes' monument as a sign of recognition and appreciation for the significant contributions of the heroes who fought for Tanzania's independence, along with those who sacrificed their lives in service to the nation with integrity and patriotism.
In her address at the commemoration, President Samia emphasized the importance of maintaining peace, unity, and patriotism among Tanzanians, stating that it is the only way to honor the legacy of the heroes who have passed on.
"This Heroes' Day is a time for reflection and recognizing our duty to safeguard the freedom and peace bequeathed to us by our heroes. Let us continue to honor them through good deeds, hard work, and by protecting the interests of our nation," President Samia stated.
The commemoration also featured a special parade of the defense and security forces, entertainment from military arts groups, as well as prayers and supplications from various religious leaders for the fallen heroes who gave their lives for Tanzania.
Heroes' Day is celebrated annually on July 25 with the aim of remembering and honoring the heroes who made significant contributions to the attainment of independence and the development of the nation.
