The Minister of Communications and Information Technology, Hon. Jerry William Silaa (MP), participated in the opening ceremony of the International Conference on the Information Society (WSIS+20) which commenced yesterday, July 07, 2025, at the Palexpo Hall located in Geneva, Switzerland.
The conference aims to evaluate the achievements and challenges faced over the past 20 years in implementing the global information society agenda.
Hon. Silaa is leading the Tanzanian delegation and is attending the conference on behalf of the President of the United Republic of Tanzania, Hon. Dr. Samia Suluhu Hassan.
During the conference, the Tanzanian delegation received three international awards for ICT projects being implemented in the country.
The first award was given to the PharmAccess Zanzibar project in the e-Health category and was received by the Minister of Health from the Revolutionary Government of Zanzibar, Hon. Nassor Ahmed Mazrui, in the presence of Minister Silaa.
The second award was presented to the e-Feedback Platform project from the e-Government Authority (e-GA) in the e-Government category.
The third award was granted to the STEM 4 All project from St. Joseph University of Tanzania, which won in the e-Science category.
