University of DOdoma (UDOM) has introduced a new digital liquid sales technology aimed at addressing various challenges faced by entrepreneurs while also saving time.
Speaking to journalists at the 49th Sabasaba Trade Fair in Dar es Salaam on July 3, 2025, Senior Lecturer Hassan Kilavo from the Department of Computer Science and Information Technology at UDOM stated that the rapid growth of technology has led the university to develop this liquid vending machine.
"This technology is new to us; we have specifically designed it for liquid traders because with this machine, you can save time and it does not require an attendant, as it can be set up for self-service," he said.
He further explained that the machine offers digital services, equipped with digital payment systems that do not require a person to be present to access services; instead, customers can serve themselves.
Additionally, he mentioned that if an entrepreneur has capital but lacks a machine, they can enter into an agreement to receive a machine on loan or through special arrangements.
He stated that if someone does not have 14 million to purchase one, they can sit down and discuss how they can strategize to finance the machine.
"I urge entrepreneurs that we are now moving towards more technology, so people should utilize technology to simplify their operations." he said .
"The liquid vending machine has been developed by UDOM, tailored to meet individual needs and the types of liquids expected to be sold." he added .
