I have cast a stone into the sky
With the intention of gauging my aspirations
Yet the stone has encountered obstacles
That’s why it has returned to the ground
My argument has not succeeded in achieving my objectives
I envisioned my stone resting on the axis without descending
But it has plummeted! My arguments lack foundation
And if my goals were to remain on the axis like the planets orbiting the sun,
Then let me adapt my argument over time like a chameleon
For it possesses numerous arguments that align with various situations
If I perch on the axis, I will require a multitude of elements to maintain my position
Because they assist several forces in keeping me robust
Thus, my equilibrium will remain constant on the axis even if another substance exerts tension.
If I exist in solitude without tension from those around me, I cannot thrive,
As my axis relies on the presence of others
So I can remain grounded
The challenge is my rewards
That allow me to discover much that I am unaware of.
The poet is expressing feelings of 'disappointment and frustration' with the efforts or aspirations. It started with hope and high expectations, symbolized by casting a stone into the sky to measure the ambitions. However, obstacles and challenges have caused the plans or arguments to fail, leading to a fall back to the ground. The imagery of the stone plummeting and goals not remaining on the axis indicates a sense of disillusionment and recognition of limitations. The mention of planets orbiting the sun signifies a longing for stability or enduring goals, but the poem implies that the ambitions are currently unable to achieve that steady, celestial-like stability, it reflects a contemplative and somewhat somber reflection on unfulfilled aspirations and the realities that hinder progress.
