The top 50 students who excelled in Science subjects in the 2025 Form Six results have been selected to receive the Samia Scholarship Extended, allowing them to study programs in Mental Health, Data Science, and other Integrative Sciences at prestigious universities around the globe.
This announcement was made on August 31, 2025, in Dar es Salaam by the Secretary General of the Ministry of Education, Science, and Technology, Prof. Carolyne Nombo. She stated that the selected graduates were chosen based on their outstanding performance in PCM, PMC, and PGM subjects.
Prof. Nombo mentioned that these students will participate in a Special Knowledge Camp (Boot camp), where they will receive training to build foundational skills in computer usage, programming, and systems analysis, along with assistance in applying for admissions to foreign universities collaboratively.
She explained that the training will be provided by expert professionals from both local and international backgrounds, including those from the private sector and the diaspora, over a period of 10 months.
Additionally, they will have the opportunity to take exams that will enable them to obtain internationally recognized professional certificates such as IBM, Certificate in Machine Learning for Data Science Projects, Certified Certificate in Cyber Security Standards, and AWS Certified Cloud Practitioner.
This funding is part of the implementation of the Education and Training Policy of 2014, revised in 2023, which aims to provide skill-based education aligned with the job market and 21st-century competencies to contribute to national and global development.
This strategy is a crucial approach aimed at enhancing skills among youth in technology and science as a whole.
