The Secretary General of the Ministry of Finance, Dr. Natu El-maamry Mwamba, has assured the World Bank that the Government will continue to collaborate with the Bank in executing development projects that are being implemented in partnership between Tanzania and the Bank efficiently, on time, and to the expected standards.
Dr. Mwamba made these remarks during the Country Portfolio Performance Review (CPPR) meeting aimed at identifying the main systemic challenges hindering project implementation and preparing a joint action plan to address them, which took place at the Bank of Tanzania (BoT) in Dar es Salaam.
Currently, the Government is continuing to implement a total of 35 projects funded by the World Bank, including 29 national projects targeting various social and economic sectors, along with 6 regional projects being executed, all aimed at accelerating the sustainable development of the nation.
"The successful implementation of these projects is expected to contribute to enhancing social and economic development, alongside achieving the National Development Vision 2050, the Zanzibar Development Vision 2050, the Third National Five-Year Plan (2021/22–2025/26), and the ZADEP 2021–2026," stated Dr. Mwamba.
On her part, the World Bank Regional Director for Southern Africa, Ms. Milena Stefanova, expressed gratitude to the Government for its excellent cooperation in project implementation.
"The World Bank recognizes and appreciates the collaboration provided by the Government of Tanzania in executing projects, strengthening the collaborative work structure, and ensuring that development goals are met efficiently," said Ms. Milena Stefanova.
The partnership between the Government and the World Bank in enhancing the execution of development projects lays a solid foundation to ensure that projects are completed effectively, delivering the expected results for the citizens and fostering the social and economic prosperity of Tanzania.
