Tanzania has been recognized by the World Travel Awards network as the leading country for Safari Tourism in 2025, serving as a catalyst for promoting new tourism products in the global market found within the Ngorongoro Conservation Area.
The Senior Assistant Commissioner responsible for tourism services, currently in Bahrain where the world Travel Award (WTA ) ceremony is taking place, said that Ngorongoro has significant international potential to market new tourism products worldwide due to the growth of the tourism sector.
Tanzania was awarded this prestigious accolade in the global tourism sector during the 32nd World Travel Awards (WTA) ceremony held at the Exhibition World Centre in Bahrain on December 6, 2025.
Speaking after the event, Commissioner Kobelo expressed that in light of the competitive nature of tourism awards across various fields, Tanzania, particularly in the Ngorongoro Conservation Area, will continue to enhance tourism infrastructure and promote new tourism products, especially in the areas of the Ngorongoro , Lengai, and Olduvai, along with attractions related to cultural heritage and ancient history to ensure they are better known and can compete on a global scale.
Kobelo emphasized that Tanzania is a "safe destination" with numerous attractions that should be introduced to the international market.
This victory has granted Tanzania a new status as one of the leading destinations worldwide for safari tourism, wildlife conservation, and conference tourism, a step that has opened the door for Tanzania to be selected as the Host of the Grand Final Awards in 2026.
This nomination positions Tanzania as an international hub for the tourism industry, expected to welcome guests from over 100 countries, including industry leaders, investors, event organizers, and international media. With this significant achievement of three awards, Tanzania is now entering preparations to host the world in 2026, a step that is highly anticipated.
