The Minister of Communications and Information Technology, Hon. Angellah Jasmine Mbelwa Kairuki (MP), has met and engaged in discussions with the Ambassador of Japan to Tanzania, Hon. Yoichi Mikami, to explore ways to strengthen collaboration in the fields of ICT, Aerospace, and Digital Development.

During the talks, Hon. Kairuki expressed gratitude to Japan for its long-standing partnership in Tanzania's development, highlighting major projects such as the Kinyerezi I & II energy infrastructure as examples of the strong relationship between the two nations.

She also praised the achievements of Tanzania's participation in EXPO 2025 Osaka and the ICT Business and Investment Conference held in Tokyo at the end of 2025.

Minister Kairuki pointed out that one of the strategic areas in the current collaboration is the KiboCUBE project, which is being implemented in partnership with JAXA and Kyushu Institute of Technology (KYUTECH). This initiative will enable Tanzania to launch its first satellite, TanzaniteSat-1.

" We believe that the project will open a new chapter for Tanzania in the aerospace sector and the use of satellite technology." She said.

Additionally, she noted that through JICA, Tanzania is benefiting from the Project to Strengthen the National Program for the Growth of Startups, alongside the initiative to establish a Modern Innovation Hub in Dar es Salaam to nurture young talents and advance technology development.

In the area of human resources, Minister Kairuki requested an increase in funding opportunities through the Japan Africa Dream Scholarship (JADS) program, particularly in the fields of Aerospace Engineering, Satellite Data Analysis, and Artificial Intelligence (AI), to enhance local expertise.

For his part, Ambassador Mikami commended the Government for its efforts in building a digital economy and promised that Japan will continue to collaborate with Tanzania in achieving the agenda for digital transformation and sustainable development.

The project is aligning with the " 2050 vision"  standing as a catalyst for achieving the digital development program and innovation worldwide.
