| Hon . Judith Kapinga in discussions with experts in Dodoma |
Tanzania has continued to create a favorable environment for business operations and investments in the country to stimulate the growth of industrial sectors, increase job opportunities, and enhance the economic contribution of the private sector.
The primary goal is to ensure that local industries produce efficiently, utilize modern technology, and that their products are recognized internationally for quality and standards that meet the necessary criteria to foster genuine competition in both domestic and foreign markets.
The Minister of Industry and Trade, Hon. Judith Kapinga, said this during a meeting with leaders from companies such as Huawei, Sunflag (Tanzania) Limited, GS1 Tanzania, Serengeti Brewery (SBL), and Dangote Cement Company on March 17, 2026, in Dodoma.
Minister Kapinga emphasized that her Ministry, in collaboration with relevant sector ministries, is committed to addressing the challenges faced by "entrepreneurs and investors" to drive industrial transformation in the country. In her discussions with the CEO of Huawei's Business Development Department, Mr. Vicent Wen, both parties explored ways to strengthen cooperation through ICT to create jobs and promote digital innovation via the DigiTruck and ICT Academy programs.
Additionally, she met with the Acting CEO of Sunflag (Tanzania) Limited, Mr. Emmanuel Mwabuka, urging him to label products as 'Made in Tanzania' to promote the quality of local goods and ensure a reliable supply of cotton raw materials.
Regarding the Cement Sector, the Minister met with the Managing Director of Dangote Cement Company in Tanzania, Mr. Adeyemi Fajobi, stressing that the government will continue to support the company's factories located in Mtwara, Lindi, Dar es Salaam, and Tanga. These discussions focused on strategies to increase production, ensure the availability of essential raw materials, and other resources to attract further investment in this sector, which is a cornerstone for infrastructure development.
The ministry has also made progress in the digital business sector by collaborating with the CEO of GS1 Tanzania, Ms. Fatuma Kange, to implement the Sunrise 2027 Plan. This initiative aims to transition from the use of 1D barcodes to 2D barcodes, such as QR codes, by the year 2027. This transformation will enable Tanzanian products to carry more information, enhance product tracking in the market, and increase transparency and competitiveness in the global supply chain.
Additionally, Minister Kapinga has met with the Chief Financial Officer of Serengeti Breweries Limited (SBL), Mr. Emmanuel Kyarwenda, commending the company for its sustainable investments in the factories located in Moshi, Dar es Salaam, and Mwanza.
SBL has officially employed over 800 individuals and benefited an additional 140,000 through its value chain, highlighting the significant contribution of the private sector in adding value to local products and strengthening domestic supply networks.
Furthermore, Minister Kapinga stated that the government appreciates the contributions of these leaders and their companies in promoting parent industries and creating economic opportunities for Tanzanians, while emphasizing that this growth must be accompanied by the "global recognition" of Tanzanian products.
" All these strategies are crucial elements in achieving 2050 vision established by president Dr Samia Suluhu Hassan "
