Tanzanian artist Omary Mwanga, known as 'Marioo', has collaborated with the renowned Kenyan pop music group, Matata, to release their new song titled 'Nyongi'.

This track serves as a precursor to the group's upcoming EP, titled ERA (East Rise Again), which is set to be released in June and will feature six songs, including 'Kanairo', expected to drop in May 2026.

The song 'Nyongi' has been produced by Kenyan producer Wodomolo, blending elements of Kenyan pop music with the smooth rhythms of Bongo Fleva from Tanzania, creating an appealing sound characterized by modern East African beats.

Members of the Matata group stated:

"There was something unique about our collaboration with Marioo. We entered the studio in Nairobi and emerged with a song that exceeded our expectations. It is a fusion of Sheng and Bongo Fleva, where Nairobi meets Dar es Salaam, and a special event has occurred between us that we are very proud of."

Marioo also commented:

"Working with Matata was a unique experience. Their energy and distinctive style have brought something special to this song. 'Nyongi' embodies the true essence of the strong musical connection within East Africa."

Marioo has a history of collaborating with artists from Kenya, having previously worked with Bien from the group Sauti Sol.
