The president of the second phase Dr , Ali Hassan Mwinyi, died today , Thursday February 29 , 2024 at 11:30 pm at the Emilio Mzena Memorial Hospital in Dar es Saalam while he was being treated for lung cancer .
This disease bothered him for a long time about 5 years , he was suffering many times ,the lungs were tight for a long time until they led to death .
" On behalf of the government of the United Republic of Tanzania, I offer my condolences to the family , the beneficiaries , relatives , friends and all Tanzanians for this great tragedy of our nation , our country will be in period of seven days of mourning where flags will fly at half mast from tomorrow March 1, 2024 . The late Mzee Ali Hassan Mwinyi will be buried on March 2 , 2024 in Ugunja on the island of Zanzibar " said president Samia .
He said this in the main palace in Dar es Saalam. This tragedy has been like mourning for all Tanzanians in the country.
