The mayor of Novorossiisk, a significant Russian port city on the Black Sea, announced a state of emergency on Saturday, May 3, after local officials reported a Ukrainian drone strike that damaged a grain terminal and several residential buildings, resulting in five injuries.
Mayor Andrei Kravchenko shared video footage on his official Telegram channel, revealing shattered windows, damaged balconies, and debris around apartment complexes, with one car crushed under rubble and extensive structural damage evident in three buildings.
Among the injured was a woman in critical condition, and local reports indicated that two children were also affected.
Krasnodar region governor Veniamin Kondratyev noted that debris from downed drones struck three storage facilities at the grain terminal, igniting a fire, though no casualties were reported there.
Delo Group, the owner of the affected facility, confirmed that the fire had been extinguished and cleanup efforts were in progress, assuring that their DeloPorts terminals remained operational in accordance with authorities' directives.
Ukraine has not yet responded to the incident, but its air force reported that Russia had conducted a large-scale assault overnight, deploying 183 drones and two ballistic missiles.
