The cow, a vital domesticated animal in Africa, is one of the animal affected by climate change, especially in regions experiencing severe drought and water scarcity. The cow has been a crucial pillar in boosting the economy of people across Africa.
The increase in drought and heat, particularly in desert areas, has led to the deterioration of the cows' health, with some struggling to survive properly.
"My cows cough every day because they drink water with too much salt, and sometimes their dung appears to have blood in it," said John Thomas, a cattle keeper in the Tabora region.
Veterinary expert Raulent Zkibo said that cows producing dung containing blood is one of the signs of water deprivation, as these animals fail to satisfy their needs due to the small amount of water they receive.However, in some areas with favorable conditions, especially those with plenty of green grass, cows live well without frequent problems.
